In all ages, men have been inclined to settle dispute by
means of violence. Avatars of this aggression undoubtedly became necessity.
The birth of NAR MATTARU cannot be fully explained. Upon an informal
alliance (2005): Zuugruft, Yorsh, and Xandregg (all ex-OBSCENUM) by the will
of Chaos created and sacrificed by their own whims. The standards of black
metal meant little to this trio, although many attempts were made to pay
homage to the old ways. NAR MATTARU produced many songs with little or no
preparation -- a truly unique brand of improvisational black metal.
Unfortunately for all involved, nothing became of this seemingly infallible
masterpiece of Chaos.
Ill will and irresolvable confrontation soon became issues to
the detriment of this black metal trio. Wyvernus (ex-OBSCENUM) was brought
in to flesh out the guitar sound and soon after an inevitable collapse
became imminent. As Chaos will have it, this obscure form of music creation
and performance could not last. As it was, before a live appearance could be
made, Zuugruft left the band. Another project emerged, only to be summarily
dismissed as "The Nar" re-awakened. This was short lived. The end all result
shaped the future of HAELM. Zuugruft was removed from NAR MATTARU's line-up,
which resulted in - after over a year of "beating around the bush" - what
has become HAELM.
Borne in pain and frustration, HAELM was forged. Regardless
of the past, Xandregg, Wyvernus and Yorsh have come to the conclusion that
another movement is due in the black metal community. Basing material on
primarily War and Chaos, several songs were conceived early on. This
resolution finite, 3 warriors rode forth into uncharted territory.
Summer / Fall 2006 led to the recording of "Sons of Man Know
Only Battle" - HAELM's first offering, a 4 song tribute to mankind's warlike
nature. Never formally released, HAELM has entered the studio once more -
recording their debut full-length "Our Father, Who Art War."
Thus is HAELM.
