ADRENALIN: Even though this question probably get old and are answered on your another website someplace, I am going to ask it anyway because it's an easy question and it's all good. Please tell us how XXX Maniak began, who you are, and why you exist. MATT: XXX Maniak exists to get laid, get wasted, and to make cash to spend on drugs while letting people know they are scum...absolute filth. We hate what we do..and we hate that people appreciate what we do, but for some reason we can't stop. There is something spiritually potent about being an absolute scumbag. XXX Maniak is destructive of our surroundings as a means of destroying ourselves and our band..but it never succeeds...the band is out of my control. ADRENALIN: When I listened to "Harvesting the Cunt Nectar" the first time, I said to myself…"damn this is some cool shit". Yet, I hadn't heard of you until then. Are you guys just getting into the serious promoting now? Or maybe I am just blind, deaf, and dumb….. MATT: That album is the origin of XXX Maniak. Since that came out in 2004 there have been a few split 7" and cd releases. The band is grind with a hip-hop mentality. If someone is a friend of mine I ask them to lay down a vocal track on a song or two. ADRENALIN: I have read that the European grind scene is an inspiration/influence of the band. Is touring in Europe one of your main goals in life?

MATT: It is important for us to be aware of porn and goregrind, but even more important to distance ourselves musically from it. Very few songs that I hear are actually disturbing, so I do what I can to make something reprehensible myself. The message and sound of XXX Maniak is intentionally removed from ADRENALIN: In an interview with Core Webzine, there is mention of a DVD with live footage of XXX Maniak at the Maryland Deathfest. I don't see it mentioned anywhere else though. Was that ever released? MATT: There is a video recording of it. A song from that video is on the Harvesting vinyl edition as a bonus track. I'm compiling other live videos as well. To release a DVD would be a large undertaking, because I could not allow it to be boring or legal. Next Page |
specific scenes although we obviously try to rip off Mortician and Agoraphobic Nosebleed at times. I've played on grind tours in Europe with other bands and it is definitely a priority to get XXX Maniak there. It is a paradise for American scumbags.
