I'll skip the question "how long have you two known each other " ha ha ha
What kind of music were you guys playing five years ago? and what bands were you both in at the time if any?
BRIAN - 5 years ago I was playing in Victims of Voodoo a local metal act
DEWAYNE - 5 years ago B.E.N.T. was just forming out of a band named Groove Epidemic. The music was funky metal more hypnotic
In your opinion what will music be like ten years from now?
BRIAN - In 10 years I hope to see a new breed of metal players, it will probably take that long for the 90's players to catch up I hope nothing will be hip hop influenced and metal shall reign!
DEWAYNE - 10 years from now I believe the heavy is gonna get more heavy with the underground scene. IM sure the top 40 will still be there. IM hoping that the metal and hardcore bands will have more acceptance & support throughout the music industry
What would you consider your part to be in preserving that future?
BRIAN - I am a guitar teacher trying to point my students in the right direction exposing them to more of the 80's metal style
DEWAYNE - Support of heavy music as a whole I believe is the key to preserving its existence in the future.
You are guys are very active in honing your skills at the craft of Playing your instruments, I heard you work with Troy Stetina of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music for instruction. Tell me about that?
BRIAN - Troy is one of the most unique musicians I know. He has been teaching me the tool's it takes to make a well-rounded musician.
DEWAYNE - I don't work with him Brian does. We both used to take lessons. I guess its like everything else if you like doing something and practice you should hope to see some results. Brian is my teacher now.
In your opinion what is the secret to success in the music industry? How much value do you place on image and major label backing as a trade off for creative control?
BRIAN - The secret to success the music industry is to get a drum machine and say YO,YO, What Up Yo
DEWAYNE - Ill let you know when we find it! The music industry has baffled me my whole life. I have to say creating a fan base and playing live to support it or get your name out there and promote the hell out of yourself to have them recognize you. I believe a band should have creative control in every aspect. You shouldn't have to trade off anything or be stuck in a certain image just to achieve major label backing
What is the biggest obstacle for you guys?
BRIAN - My day job! I could be jamming an extra 40 hours a week
DEWAYNE - The biggest obstacle I think is that no one knows who the hell we are and what we are about. We need to spread the word thanks by the way for this opportunity!
I have to ask, people will always wonder! What does the acronym? B.E.N.T. stand for?
DEWAYNE - Big Erections Need Tending hahhah
BRIAN - Beyond Every Natural Thought!
Do you guys have any allergies to birthday candles? I mean does it get harder or easier as the years go by and you get older? How old are you anyway?
DEWAYNE - I think that it gets easier to play together and write songs. People always say you'll grow out of that type of music IM 31 and know that heavy music will always flow through my veins. But as long as we are having fun and I get to see my bro rip a guitar makes it all worth it!
BRIAN - I am 27 for the past 15 years I have been practicing waiting for the right musicians and time to unleash. Now is that time!
The two song CD of yours "Bury Em" is doing well all over the place, what do you attribute that success to? I see it's offered for sale in quite a few places, got any advice for others bands regarding distribution ?
DEWAYNE - Hard work and dedication I think that bleeds through to your product. No matter what your selling. Get your CD everywhere anyone will let you put it. Always have them on ya and available
BRIAN - The success of BURY EM I think is the chemistry between the band members and the music. Along with my brothers hard work at pushing it! SELL, SELL, SELL get out there and sell it to anyone.
On a scale of one to ten who is a ten(ten being the best) nowadays with you musically ? Who is a one(one being the worst) What is really good about music today and what is really bad?
DEWAYNE - Pantera, Dream Theater, Billy Sheehan are 10's in my book. Michael Bolton, the women alternative scene, and rap hit the zeros for me. Bands that really have no talent are being supported and making money in the music industry. I find that very irritating at times. The good thing about music today is that only real music that has stood the test of time is hard metal. It has long been thriving underground since the early 70's although in recent years there have been bands that have been trying to create and inovative sounds everything always diverts back to metal.
BRIAN - I love the new Judas Priest, King diamond, Dream Theater. I dislike anything looped or anything without creativity like rap and alternative. The good thing about music today is that people are sick of this alternative crap that's been here way to long, Burn it!.
I just happen to work in the studio where you guys are going to record your full length. Give me a summary of the music we will be recording there? What genre would you classify it as?
BRIAN - Dual guitar work, heavy grooves, and the best guitar solos I can accomplish
DEWAYNE - Heavy harmonized guitar arsenal orientated metal. Hardcore progressive metal!
Any comments for the road and hey I wiil see you guys in October for the recording of your new release.
BRIAN - Keep it hard and heavy
DEWAYNE - Metal up your ass! Can I swear on this thing???? Metal up your arsh!!
