Interview with Ground Of Ruin
questions answered by Dave
** Interview by Heather - May 2007 **

ADRENALIN: What (or who) are your inspirations when writing the music?

DAVE: Musically our influences are varied, its pretty much all metal influenced though. We take our cues from the likes of Pantera, At the Gates, (Early) In Flames, Machine Head, Lamb of God, Sepultura, Dissection and Slayer etc. etc. however our aim isn't so much to like a combination of those bands i.e. We don't set out to play death, or thrash or black metal or whatever but instead we work to reach a similar standard of quality song writing and heaviness as the bands we grew up with and inspired us to pick up instruments in the first place.

ADRENALIN: Can you tell us what it was like playing such big metal bills such as Day of Darkness and Whiplash Metalfest?

DAVE: It was a huge privilege to be asked to play DoD because when we started out gigging one of our ambitions was to play the festival as it takes place a few miles from where we practice and where the other guys used to live which drove us to want to be a part of it, plus its a crazy weekend of metal and mayhem in the middle of a field with a couple of hundred other Metallers, what could be better!?! Whiplash was different because we actually were the first band ever to play that fest and to this day we have never been treated better or played a more well organised gig, its really starting to grow this year too, and their professionalism and good will are the main reasons

ADRENALIN: With the new EP out, and the intention of getting more recognition in the metal scene worldwide, have you begun to notice any changes leading in that direction?

DAVE: I have to say that there have been some small but noticable changes, we are getting interview offers and positive reviews from as far afield as Bosnia, South Africa, Germany and of course your 10/10 review! Also we seem to be attracting some outside interest from Europe, with a German festival appearance lined up and hopefully some other gigs on the mainland before the year is over!

ADRENALIN: Any plans on touring the States?

DAVE: I'm afraid at the moment we don't, although we would love to in the future and I'm sure we will as soon as we can. For the moment we are really concentrating on making our name heard in Ireland and hopefully throughout Europe before we can go "across the pond" to the states, but when we do you will be the first to know and we'll be on top form to give ye all an arse kicking!

ADRENALIN: What relationship do you hold with the other members of the band?

DAVE: We're actually all housemates here in Carlow, Ireland (with the exception of our guitarist Rob who is
