Interview with CWN ANNWN
JANUARY 2009

** Interview conducted by Mike
Questions answered by Neil.

Cwn Annwn (pronounced Coon-uh-NOON) is a melodic thrash band from Minneapolis that brings forth a very powerful presence on stage. They have gotten some good recognition for the very talented female vocals that tap off the sound that they deliver at every live show. But, as you will notice next time you catch them live, the entire band blends together very well in a form that will without a doubt command and attract your attention during their entire performance.

ADRENALIN:  Who are you and what is your purpose here on Earth?

NEIL:  My name is Neil, and I've come to assimilate your kind.

ADRENALIN:  Cwn Annwn..…I love the name because it is so unique. Why do you like it?

NEIL: People have commented it made them want to learn something about the band name. We like that somebody occasionally has to think when reading it.

ADRENALIN:  I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I find your band’s music really addicting (like some wicked drug). Why do think the current fans of Cwn Annwn are big fans of your music?

NEIL:  It's kind of a je ne sais quoi thing. I don't think we're

necessarily writing the most groundbreaking music, but I do think we've cultivated an original sound. I don't think there's a lot of bands writing the type of music we are, or pursuing the sounds we are. There are people that have watched us (especially those who have enjoyed legitimate thrash metal or NWOBHM) who have watched us and just fundamentally get what we're doing.

Cwn AnnwnADRENALIN:  What bands are some of your favorites?

NEIL:  Some of the bands we consider influential include Metallica (when they cared,) Megadeth, Maiden, In Flames, Dillinger Escape Plan, Rush, Guns'N'Roses, The Haunted, Dream Theater, At the Gates, and just tons, tons others. As far as non-metal, there's a lot of love for Primus, The Who, Nirvana, Bad Religion, Tori Amos, Zeppelin, and a wide diverse catalog on top of that.

ADRENALIN:  I read that before Julie joined the band, you were the vocalist and Cwn Annwn had a different overall sound. What did you sound like before Julie and how easy was the transition to what Cwn Annwn is today?
