Sweden is country with a diverse range of music. Known primarily for the tradition of Nordic Folk music it also the home of some of the greatest innovators in the vast Metal Scene. In 2004 Netherbird came together to create an innovative style of Metal that follows very few boundaries. We spoke with Nephente of Netherbird about a variety of topics including the release of The Ghost Collector and what the future has in store for this excellent band.

ADRENALIN: Every band has a story. Tell me how Netherbird sprung into existence.

NEPHENTE: Netherbird sprung to life as a result of me, Bizmark (guitars and
keyboards) and Grim (guitars) talking at a pub in Stockholm prior to the Rebirth of Dissection gig in 2005. We all had a shared idea of what a band should sound like and how to operate as a unit. After the initial discussion we wrote one song, Boulevard Black, and when it was recorded we liked it, so from that point we have just kept going.

NEPHENTE: I have been part of the Scandinavian metal scene since forever and my roots and my inspiration can always be traced back to the years when I started out. So

my most important inspirations are bands from Scandinavia and the US that were around back then: Entombed, Dissection, Unanimated, Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower, At the Gates, Death, Mayhem and Cradle of Filth to name a few. I also listen to new stuff but for inspiration I tend to dig deep and backwards.

ADRENALIN: Your music is beautifully composed. How does the writing process of Netherbird's music and lyrics work?

NEPHENTE: Thank you, glad you like it! Bizmark writes all tunes on guitar, and then me and him arrange the music together. So when he has written a tune, I listen to it, I give it a title and then he does the keyboards and I write the lyrics. Then Adrian writes the drums and then we record it. So it is a process with a number of steps but that is basically how every tune is brought into existence!

ADRENALIN: Why does Netherbird choose to work with 'Guild Members' and will you ever recruit other permanent musicians into the band?
