Questions answered by Jarek Niemiec of Saratan

Saratan is a Death/ Trash metal band from Poland that has recently released its second album "Antireligion" on My Kingdom Music. The band has been around since 2003 and has had a positive response from fans and critics thus far. Previous releases include the "The Cult Of Vermin" full length (My Kingdom Music) and demo cd "Infected With Life".

TAYLOR: Saratan comes from a metal rich country that has given birth to many excellent bands. Where do you see yourself in comparison to your other contemporaries in Poland?

SARATAN: I try to not compare my band to another, we just play our music and we promote it. As you said Poland is full of metal bands, but Saratan grows bigger with every new cd. Our rank should depend only on our cds and gigs, and I see a huge progress in our case.

TAYLOR: "Antireligion" is your second album as a band what do you believe you accomplished with this release compared to your previous album?

TAYLOR: I thought the album artwork was really well done. Who was the artist?

SARATAN: Whole layout was made by Michal ‘Xaay’ Loranc. He has made graphics for Nile, myspace profiles for Vader, Decapitated, and some other graphics for Behemoth. I should mention that for the cover we used a photo ‘martyrs’ by Michal Drozd. I agree with you, the cover and whole layout seems to be really well done.

TAYLOR: The album saw the contributiuons of such notable people as Vogg from Decapitated, Jacek Hiro from Sceptic, and Daniel Kesler from Redemptor. Is there a close nit community of extreme metal musicians in Poland?

SARATAN: Everyone knows each other, especially in our cities. We’re from Cracow like many other metal bands such as Virgin Snatch, Sceptic, Crionics, Thy Disease, Whorehouse.  The most interesting thing is all the guest I have
