Shadow Entertainment USA

Interview with SHADOW ENTERTAINMENT USA
JULY 2009

** Interview conducted by Dion
Questions answered by Scott.

G’day everyone! I recently got hit up to do an interview for the ‘zine. My first thought was "why me?". Once I’d gotten past that, I decided that I wanted to pick the brains of someone from a different facet of the multifaceted music world than bands or their members. So I decided to absorb a very busy bloke’s precious time with my inane inquisition and I accosted Shadow Entertainment USA‘s Scott, founder of an ever-growing booking/organizing company out of Illinois.

While I’ve never worked with Scott, I’ve only heard good things from people who HAVE. He even seemed to deal with my time-wasting shenanigans pretty well…

ADRENALIN: Let’s kick this interview off the way I usually like to: What was the first CD you ever bought and what was your parents’ response to it?

SCOTT: Well, I'm probably dating myself here, but the first 2 CASSETTES I bought were Van Halen's "1984" and ACDC's "Back in Black". My older brothers listened to a lot of classic rock and metal, and when I was old enough to have my own stereo, I wanted to listen to music with distorted guitars and loud ass drums. SCOTT: Mission? Quite simply, the death of false metal and crooked promoters.

I started this company after a band I was in had been screwed over repeatedly, either by promoters that didn't pay us commensurate to our draw, or demanded that we buy advance tickets and sell 'em to our friends, and never see a dime for our work... hence, my aversion to "pay-to-play" shows.

I'd like to see us become as big as Jam Productions or Live Nation, without all the crap, non-metal music they push.

ADRENALIN: Who do you think would win a one-armed spank frenzy: Madonna or Michael Jackson?

SCOTT: (Laughs) Michael. He DID wear one white glove and sing a song called "Beat It".

ADRENALIN: I notice that you have "agents" all over the US, including Texas, West Virginia and Missouri/Tennessee, yet you’re out of Illinois. How difficult was it to get people to help you, and the Shadow cause?

SCOTT: Not hard at all, for a criminal mastermind such as myself... HAHAHAHAH!

Actually, it's quite difficult to find effective people who want to join up with us. A lot of the time, prospective agents are
