Interview With

questions answered by Devon
interview conducted by Mike
The first question is one that I ask everybody. Who are you and where did you come from? How long has Wehrwolfe existed?
Scott and I was in Demonic Christ with Jon Vesano and Dana Duffey, we moved from Columbus, Ohio. Around the later half of 96' we parted ways with Dana and brought Darkmoon to life in early spring of 97'. Chuck came into the band in the year 2000, he moved from Ashville, N.C. to Charlotte and has been in various bands when he lived in Pittsburg, and Fla. Invid being one of the bands he was from. He caught on very quickly to what DM was about and his writing style became a major part of the songs in 2001. The beginning of 2002, we parted ways with Darkmoon. Recruited a vocalist, Nathan and it was full speed ahead! Just recently we added another gun, Art Taylor to the guitar onslaught. So the Wehrwolfe army has been going strong for about two years, and we are now marching with a full line up now!
Wehrwolfe just released, "Godless We Stand". This is your first release, correct? How are the reactions to the release so far?
Yes, this is our first release and the reaction has been immense thus far! We are very thankful for all of the internet publicity from the 'zines, and on-line radio sites. They have been detrimental in getting us heard! Being an upcoming band and struggling, it can be hard sometimes but they have taken the weight off our backs. Thank you!
Are you satisfied with how the album turned out?
Very! It is our best recording effort so far. The listener can understand our music and message clearly. Because we are very confident and stand behind our material 100%! We have high standards. If we're satisfied, the listener will be also.
How did you guys hook up with Magik Records? Are they showing a lot of support for this album?
We did a compilation called Covered in Filth where we covered the song "the principal of evil made flesh". It was released by Deadline records which is also a sub of Cleopatra Records, made some friends, and then they came up with the idea to create a metal label. We are very fortunate to work with a staff of individuals that put the music first! They have shown a tremendous amount of support for Wehrwolfe, and for this we are very grateful.
How was Milwaukee Metalfest? Were there any complications or did everything go smoothly?
It is definitely not what it used to be. The Milwaukee Metalfest was something everyone couldn't wait to go to every year, where you could see (and hear) your favorite bands and meet up with people you haven't seen for awhile! Now it's just a fest that people will go to if there is nothing else
to do on that particular weekend! Besides that, our set went about as smoothly as every bands set went (50 grit toilet paper comes to mind) but it's how a band deals with what is handed to them that counts!
What would you change about Metalfest is you had the option?
Bands pay a lot of their own money to play and represent the material that they have worked so hard on. To have that material come across muddy and indecipherable is unacceptable! How can any new band get a following or the established band keep their fans if they sound like shit!?! How can the promoters expect to keep having the fests if they insist on ripping off ticket-buyers!?! Here is what I suggest; Take monies that go into the pockets of the overpaid headliners and promoters, those dollars should then be divied-up and go directly into the-"Get somebody that gives a fuck about what they do and the metal-community, run better sound, hey let's give them their moneys worth before there is no Metalfest next July FUND".
What can a webzine like Adrenalin do to make people want to read it or take interest in it?
Supply visuals, vital information, chat rooms, and definitely links to bands making it an easy decision for someone that is surfing to want to go to, or at least through your site to their desired destination.
What are your thoughts on democracy?
Democracy is a great ideal, whether it works or not is still yet to be seen.
What needs to be done to make this world better?
Couples thinking about parenting another living being, should be tested and evaluated! There should also be a limit to how many cubs one can give birth to. Quality not quantity.
Are there any places in the world where you'd really want to go on tour?
Japan!
Who would you want to tour with?I think we all would be in agreement on The Crown. We had the pleasure of playing with them once as Darkmoon. I had never heard their music before that day and once they started playing they totally blew me away! They were very inspiring and I've been a fan ever since.
Any places that you have been to but will never go to again?
Hal Daddy's in Baltimore! Great people, bad venue.
Does Wehrwolfe have any shows or tours coming up to help promote your new album?
Right now we are working on another tour but as of right now 10- 23- 03 we are booked in Columbus, Oh. at Illusions on Nov. 1 and Ground zero Spartanburg SC w/ Deicide Nov. 22.
Did you have any crazy experiences on the road so far? That is classified.
Do you have any final comments, advice, stories, ect?." No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the
reward for what he gave."
