Interview with X-VISION
August 2008

** Interview conducted by Rob.
Questions answered by Arno (bassist).

ADRENALIN: I've read that the band actually started while the guys were still in high school.  Have you had the same five members since then and how long have you all known each other?

ARNO: Well, the band actually started 10 years ago... Arnaud (drums) and Pierre (Vocals) used to play together in a small band when Arno B (Bass) decided to get into it, to start a new project, which became X-VISION. Since then, the line-up had some few changes (guitars and samples), but since 2001 the band is quite stable. Chris and Guino are the two guitar players. In early 2007, we decided to give our D.J notice to quit, after playing with him for 4 years, because of the new main lines the band took.

ADRENALIN: Following up on the previous question, since you started at such a young age how easy was it to find a good camaraderie and cohesiveness as the writing process started?

ARNO: When you start a brand new band, it’s always easy to compose music (each idea, riff, will be a part of a future track), but to find a good cohesion, you need to digest your influences, this is what happened for us. I think the good camaraderie has come with the time.

ADRENALIN: Who were your main influences growing up in france?

ARNO: Our main influences in the beginning were Fear Factory, Pantera, Machine Head,... today we are listening to many bands, like American head charge, Slipknot, Meshuggah, Gojira ...

ADRENALIN: You seem to have a pretty unique style that teeters on the edge of a modern Thrash and Heavy Core that reminds me a little of Meshuggah in parts especially in the guitar sound and how you approach the riffs.  I know certain styles just happen when you get a bunch of musicians together but did you have a specific direction you wanted to take when you started back in 1998?

ARNO: In 1998, the orientation was syncope music like Fear Factory, but the influence was too present….
When you find different members aiming the same as you, you should work that way. Today our influences are still here but we don't want to take the same direction. I don't know if we have a pretty unique style (I don't think so!) but we want to grow up and test new musical horizons, we want to play our music without borders.

ADRENALIN: I hear multiple styles shining through each song on your new disc So Close, So Far.  It makes the
