The topic = REGURGITATION
This section is for thoughts on musical regurgitation and the rights and wrongs of a
band sounding exactly like another band. I want to hear what YOU have to
say.
So tell me, in your opinion, when (if ever) is it ok for a
band to sound like another band? Take into consideration that originality is
harder and harder to come by these days. Some bands are constantly trying to “be
original” but fail miserably. Others stick to an old-school sound that has been
around for ages and have great success. When is “enough” really enough? Is there
a such thing?
Please send your responses to
adrenalinzine@gmail.com with “regurgitation” in the subject line. We
will let you know when your response is added to the site. Also, when
responding, please give me your name and location so I can list it with your
response. And what the hell, send a photo too if you want!

I believe that only time another band is allowed to sound
another band is when one of the bands is old. Because if people listen to
the band that sounds like the older band (that may or may not have been lost
in time) then they might get into the old band. When new bands copy other
new bands then it starts of a destructive trend that is highly annoying.
Take Airbourne, they sound exactly like AC/DC and normally i
would be bothered but im not. I find i like listening to them even though
they sound basically like AC/DC but then that's the whole point. The really
gawling thing is when some bands pretend that their original even though
they know they sound a bit too much like another band. Airbourne are fairly
honest about sounding like AC/DC. I believe that original bands should be
exalted over bands that do not try to sound original or at least dont make
the effort. If they do sound like another band then they should just cut the
crap and admit it.

About bands sounding the same: The farthest those
bands that sound alike should get is to be known amongst the local scene,
for being really kickass...
I think it is in the hands of promoters (record labels, show
bookings, etc.) to make the decision of whether a band should get promoted,
if the promoters believe the band actually might make it somewhere, if they
have a signature sound...
Bands themselves will never care about whether they sound
like another band (cuz we all know those bands say that they are INFLUENCED
BY that band, not "we sound like that band")
These days we often see bands that sound alike but they all
kick ass (whether they're technical, or have great harmonizing riffs, or a
breathtaking chorus)... I'd say, eventually you will get tired of a band,
and check out a new band... But it is important, to have a signature/unique
sound..
